ABOUT US
Welcome to The Gábor Initiative
At The Gábor Initiative, we strive to initiate relationships that empower young men and boys through companionship and leadership. We strive to foster meaningful connections that inspire mental, emotional and spiritual growth, ensuring that every individual has access to the guidance and support they need to navigate their unique journey.
We will foster 100 new relationships, teach self-sustaining tools, and impact at least 25 communities by 2026 because every male needs intentional relationships to navigate life’s challenges, discern their gifts, and grow into men of character who positively impact their families and communities.

The Experience
Mentors and Mentees will meet one on one over zoom to adventure on a journey of growth and relationship. This system is designed to work with schedules. All you need is patience and a willingness to show up. Wherever you are, you should be able to meet over a video platform like Zoom or Google Teams… twice a month or more to discuss and hangout. Feel out the relationship and go day by day. Some meetings could be a bible study where you both pick a book of the new testament and break it down. It could be talking about relationships or friendships or personal struggles. It is a process for both of you so be patient and explore.

RESEARCH
- Men are statistically four times more likely to die by suicide than women.
- For the first time in modern American history, young men are now more religious than their female peers.
- Societal pressure to appear ‘strong’ often prevents men from openly discussing mental health struggles, leading to underreporting.
- Young men are experiencing higher rates of unemployment and underemployment compared to young women, particularly in the face of a competitive job market.
- Some studies indicate a growing trend of social isolation among young men, potentially contributing to mental health issues.

Get Involved
Whether you’re looking to become a mentor, know a mentee in need, would like to support our programs, or join our community of like-minded individuals, there are many ways to get involved.
Each unique relationship will bring different financial support needs. This may include support for educational resources, skill-building programs, wellness activities, or professional counseling services. Ideally, these investments will be guided by prayer and relationship, tailored to the specific needs of the boy or young man.
